Diem does have interfaces, but they are all in the dmCorePlugin and then extended in the dmAdminPlugin and dmFrontPlugin.

Core is used by the whole site, admin only by the admin menu, and front by the normal users (and for editing pages).

There is also a lot of undocumented features, which sometimes makes editing it hard work but if you look carefully enough, or ask in the forum, it can normally be found.

Lots of new things will hopefully be happening in Diem!

I'm also very impressed when I found Diem.

I'm a bit torn here, I quite like Drupal, especially due to its popularity and choice of modules.

However looking at the description of Diem it really looks like it fits my "style" as you say it. I haven't yet worked with Symfony, I only worked with Doctrine + Zend Framework but I already liked the way things work. (and I believe Symfony is much more convenient than Zend Framework)

Drupal's architecture leaves a lot to be desired... but de facto it's one of the most popular CMSes nowadays (along with Joomla and WordPress), with lots of PHP developers familiar with it.

I think it mostly depends from what direction you're coming from. Drupal starts life on you're web server as a web page. Diem starts life on you're web server through the command line. Diem, unabashedly, appeals to hardcore programmers who need to get a site up quickly. Drupal, while still more appealing to developers than an out-of-the-box CMS, still assumes that you are not a programmer per se, but if you are, gives you some power. Unfortunately, the code behind Drupal (and this might be different in version 7), is not something that I, as a programmer, am proud to use. It doesn't fit my "style". Diem does, and it is also doesn't hide the power of the the Symfony framework from you, if you really need to get "down and dirty".

Hey Avi,

Personally, I've become a fan of Drupal, and have so far been using it on every project since I've picked it up. I had previously used Wordpress, and tried Joomla. (I even use Umbraco on occasion with CF projects, though I don't like it at all.)

I just checked out the Diem website, though, was not impressed. I tried to check out a tour, and it eventually led me down a jargon-heavy path of confusion... And the top-rated showcase sites did not look very impressive, either.

I'll give it another go when I'm less tired.
